| dc.description.abstract | Резюме: Tinea capitis (TC) представлява гъбична инфекция на скалпа, характерна за детската възраст, докато появата ù в напреднала възраст обикновено се счита за казуистична. Напоследък се съобщава за множество промени както в епидемиологията, така и в етиологията на заболяването, като новите тенденции в рамките на променящия се модел на инфекцията приковават вниманието на учените от цял свят. Понастоящем се смята че етиологията за заболяването е променлива, като зависи от пола, възрастта и общото състояние на пациента. Също нов аспект представлява увеличаването на честотата на Tinea capitis сред възрастни пациенти. Ако честотата на ТС при възрастни пациенти преди е представлявала по-малко от 1% от всички случаи, в момента се съобщава за повишаване на честота на инфекцията в напреднала възраст от 1% до 3-5%, дори до 11% в различни проучвания. Представяме серия случаи на здрави възрастни пациенти, с потвърдена Tinea capitis, като фокусираме вниманието върху атипичната клинична картина на инфекцията в напреднала възраст, която може да доведе до погрешна диагноза, включително други инфекции на капилициума или алопеция-подобни състояния. Разглеждаме динамиката на заболяването, която зависи от множество фактори, включително възраст, пол, географски регион, а също и от изследвания период. Лекарите трябва да са наясно, че Tinea capitis adultorum вече не е рядко срещано заболяване и поради това следва да се има предвид в диференциално-диагностичен план и при възрастни пациенти. ***** Summary: Tinea capitis is a fungal infection of the scalp, which is more typical in childhood, while its occurrence in the elderly is usually considered casuistic. A wide range of diversities in the epidemiology as well as in the etiology of Tinea capitis have been reported recently and the new trend with the changing pattern of the disease raises the attention of scientists from all over the world. Nowadays, etiology is considered to vary with age, gender and general health condition. Also, a new trend in the epidemiology of the disease is the increasing incidence among adult patients. If the incidence of TC in adults previously accounted for less than 1% of all cases, currently, the increased incidence regarding the infection in the elderly is widely reported, from 1% to 3-5%, even to 11%, according to different studies. Herein, we present a case series of otherwise healthy adult patients, with confirmed Tinea capitis, as we focus the attention on the atypical clinical manifestation of the infection in the elderly, which often could lead to misdiagnosis with other scalp infection or alopecia-like conditions. On the other hand, we emphasize the dynamic pattern of this disease, depending on multiple factors, including age, gender, geographic region and also the investigated period. Physicians should be aware that Tinea capitis adultorum is no longer rarely seen and therefore should be kept in mind as differential diagnosis also in adult patients | en_US |
