| dc.description.abstract | Summary. Neurological diseases (stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, etc)are the third leading cause of death for the Bulgarian population (after heart and malignant diseases). Having in mind that the patients with neurological diseases account for 20% of the total number of hospitalized, a little attention is paid to the needs and care of these patients. The article aims at developing nursing students and qualified nurses’ knowledge and skills in caring for patients with neurological diseases. The first section addresses assessment and prioritization of care needs, while the rest four sections focus on specific patient needs and cares related to respiration, skin maintenance, nutrition, urination, defecation and proper bed positioning. | en_US |
